The important role that the meyBRACE plays in timber-framed construction was further exemplified when we received the call to replace a couple of steel truss braces. The steel option required additional carpentry work around to fit within a 90mm timber frame, but also caused headaches when face-fixing timber beams. On the other hand, meyBRACE was a treat to the carpenters as it seamlessly engaged with the timber elements around it. What's more, the meyBRACE also offered timely supply even during periods when supply chain delays are common

Building on an island can be quite difficult. Transport on barges is expensive, you need to make sure you have all the equipment, and getting rid of waste materials adds to the cost. These were some of the issues faced by Sam Dennis who wanted to build an affordable housing project on Macleay Island in QLD. So he asked Meyer Timber for assistance. Even though it was of modest size, the open plan living and large verandah meant the perfect solution was meyBRACE portals. Add to this meyJOIST, meySPAN13, and GL17C ridge beams and the result is an engineered timber masterpiece which ticked all the boxes.

Recently we responded to an unusual request from a builder, to supply our meyBRACE timber portal to fit within an already installed wall frame and floor system. The meyBRACE was required to replace a steel truss brace, specified by the project engineer, that couldn’t be sourced in a timely manner. We ended up supplying the columns only, pre-fabricated as usual with stiffeners and pre-drilled holes to receive screws that form the knee joint. These columns were fixed into as-built floor beams to complete the meyBRACE 3640 to the satisfaction of the builder. We want more of this was the concluding remarks of the site-supervisor!

An install guide is included in the job pack along with screws to connect it to the frames. NSW customers will start to see these in floor systems delivered during May.
