MPP38 – Henley Townhouses (Kalkallo) – Mar 2022

Timber Building Systems (TBS) have added yet another feather to their cap, by helping Henley Homes to transition from traditional building methods to pre-fabricated residential homes, the first of its kind in the builder’s 30-year history. The maiden project comprising of ten 2-storey townhouses is being built in Kalkallo, north of Melbourne, adopting prefabricated wall, floor and roof panels, designed and manufactured by TBS. Boasting an install time of 10 days (one day/townhouse) to lock-up stage, this project will help Henley Homes deliver a faster and more cost-effective end product.

MPP37 – Freestanding Merbau Gazebos – Feb 2022

The Meyer Timber out-door offering continues to gather steam! Our pre-cut outdoor kits were the ideal choice for a luxury resort in South West Rocks. Partnering with Eastland Truss and Timber, precision cut merbau allowed each pool-side Gazebo to be assembled in hours. The Meyer Timber fabrication line in NSW embraced the challenge of hardwood truss assembly with concealed screw connections. MPP36 – 4-Storey Residential Building in Port Melbourne – Dec 2021

Pushing the boundaries of small footprint design, this innovative four-story residential building was completed just weeks ago on the fringe of North Melbourne’s CBD. Our colleagues at Timber Building Systems (TBS) came up trumps when challenged with this project, built in a mere 4.1m x 15.9m footprint and located among existing buildings in a narrow street.

MPP35 – Magna Glulam Merbau Pergola in South Australia – Nov 2021

Meyer Timber has saved the day by supplying Magna Glulam product for a pergola structure in Adelaide. The pergola had sizing constraints which meant that from a durability and design perspective the only suitable timber product was Magna Glulam. A satisfied Peter Graham (Project Engineer) stated “The necessary stock items were sourced from Meyer Timber and they did a tremendous job in compiling the job lot of posts, beams and rafters, as well as and coordinating supply for the project.

MPP34 – Qikpanel cassettes for sub-floor in Neerim South (VIC) – Oct 2021

Another successful sub-floor cassette job was completed for GJ Gardner Homes in the Gippsland region in Victoria. As the external walls were clad (and not brick veneer), the perimeter of the floor needed to be exact. With bearers installed the same morning, the floor cassettes were positioned and allowed wall frames to continue seamlessly due to the precision of the factory manufactured floor panels.

MPP33 – Scale Wadsworth Floor Roof – Sep 2021

Recently the Meyer Timber pre-fab team was challenged with a complex build on a steep ocean-side block in Gerroa. Headed by builder and architect Matt Chan from Scale Architecture and combining forces with Wadsworth Joinery, the project pushed many boundaries and the end result was a rapid and accurate build, and a testing ground for future projects.

MPP32 – Qikpanel floor cassettes (Drouin, VIC) – Aug 2021

Our Qikpanel sub-floor cassette offer is gaining plenty of interest in the Victorian Gippsland region. We completed our third supply and install job only last week, with a fourth project lined up for installation late-August. This month’s Project Profile focuses on the latest job in Drouin. The striking feature of this project was the ability to complete both sub-floor cassettes and wall frame installation on the same day.

MPP31 – Wollemi Shrine (Machined posts and beams) – Jul 2021

Our pre-cut pergola service was the ideal choice for a Shrine being built at Wollemi College in Werrington. The posts and beams were machined and pre-coated by Meyer Timber and meshed together perfectly with roof trusses by Hunter Frames. Featuring F27 recycled posts and GL21S beams, the 12x12m structure will be a local landmark.

MPP30 – Floor Cassettes with a Difference – May 2021

The Eternity Life in West Footscray (Melbourne), a 61-unit (4-storey) residential development, was opened in late 2020. The floor system for this project was designed and supplied by Meyer Timber/TBS using pre-fabricated cassettes incorporating a custom-designed acoustic system. The builder, who traditionally uses concrete floors, was pleasantly surprised by the level of comfort and stability that he experienced when walking on the floor during construction.

MPP29 – Sub-floor cassettes (Drouin, VIC) – Apr 2021

Our first sub-floor cassette job for 2021 was a real success, as we were able to meet all expectations of the builder. A solid and level floor completed within a day allowed the carpentry crew to seamlessly install wall frames on the following morning. The cassettes included sub-floor insulation, wet-area flooring and set-downs for showers, so the builder had less issues to worry about on site. What’s more, our supply and install (including bearers) package meant the builder’s carpentry crew was able to finish off another job simultaneously, giving cash flow benefits to the builder.

MPP28 – Cassette Floors, Stairs and Roof – Mar 2021

Recently Meyer Timber combined forces with modular building fabricator Pro9 Global. Located in Greystanes NSW, this project used the Pro9 insulated wall panels externally, along with traditional timber stud walls internally. Walls were followed in short succession by Meyer Timber cassette floor, stairs and roof. Two innovative companies working together for a great result!

Notwithstanding the difficult year, we have been able to introduce new products and systems to the domestic market on a regular basis. meyBRACE timber portal system is the latest offer that has started to make a difference by resolving complex wall bracing issues..

MPP26 – Passive House – Nov 2020

We were challenged with the design and manufacture of cassettes for a valley roof, to meet stringent Passive house standards. The result: Each roof stage installed in under 2 hours. Walls by Westview F&T and roof by Meyer Timber tested to achieve less than 0.6 air changes per hour (The average Australian House achieves 15 air changes with all doors and windows closed). Congratulations to the team at Blue Eco Homes on an outstanding result.

MPP25 – Ceiling Cassettes (Mid North Coast City Council, NSW) – Oct 2020

Richard Crookes construction was awarded the contract to re-purpose an old Masters warehouse to be the new headquarters for the Mid North Coast City Council in NSW. With a very short build time and over 1,500m2 of ceilings to provide for internal offices, they chose to partner with Eastlands and use LVL ceiling cassettes. Meyer Timber provided the production drawings and cut to length timber.

MPP24 – Pe-fabricated floor, roof and stairs – Aug 2020

Recently we had a chance to show-case all of Meyer Timber’s cassette options, with pre-fabricated floor, rafters and stairs within a single house. Accurate framing by Dahlsens Ulladulla and builder Matt Stewart ensured all the members slotted together with precision. Saving weeks of on-site labour, this is an excellent example of how Frame & Truss plants can add value by partnering with our pre-fab team.
